Jenišov lies west of Karlovy Vary and borders the city. The municipality comprises the parts of Jenišov and Pod Rohem. The D6 motorway passes through its territory.

Jenišov was first mentioned around 1390. Over the course of the 19th century, 19 coal mines opened successively within its cadastral area.
